Many of the custom dunnage trays and pallets Polyflex produces interface with automation equipment during manufacturing and assembly. Polyflex also produces many kitting trays for assembly operations.
Pallets and Part Nests
Nesting pallets can hold a part in position as it moves through several automated machining operations. Our urethane material protects the part as it moves to the next work cell. The pallet positions the part properly so automation equipment can pick up and place the part in the next machining operation.
PolyFlex's material-handling experts work directly with your engineers or suppliers to design custom injection-molded trays and part presentation pallets that present your components to automation and also protect them during in-plant processing and shipping. Our understanding of robotic and automated interface with packaging is superior to other packaging suppliers.
Our trays can feature a center detail that interfaces with robotics equipment. This tray is also a shipping container that carries the part through different stages, from the casting supplier to the machining and assembly operation. Wear pads in the tray are made from a wear resistant material. The wear pads protect the parts while eliminating the possibility of the tray surfaces.
Our Injection Molded Trays are:
- More Durable – withstand repeated use beyond the capability of other materials
- More Efficient – less need to replace or repair, keeping maintenance to a minimum
- Noise Reducing – metal components make less noise when interacting with rubber, urethane, or plastic materials compared to metal versions
- Weight Reducing – composites, for example, replace metal pallets and "V" blocks, reducing transportation costs.
Custom Kitting Trays
Polyflex often designs trays to interact with automation equipment, including assembly of a component from the varied parts in a kitting tray. The kitting tray pictured handles numerous different components of an assembly and presents them in the proper orientation to the robot. Our understanding of part presentation and the tolerances necessary to robotically pick and place parts from a tray to an assembly is unique in the industry.
